Reviews shall, in general, follow the guidelines of the Section Financial Manual as developed in 2012. Notify the Treasurer and Region Board of Governors of any discrepancies in our accounting practices which do not meet the tax or fiduciary requirements of the Region Bylaws.1. The Awards Committee (AC) is responsible for coordinating the nomination and selection of Region 9 award recipients with Sections, Branches and Groups, and coordinating the nomination and selection of candidates for Society award consideration.
• Annually recognize outstanding individuals and civil engineering projects in Region 9 through an awards program and awards ceremony.
• Establish and maintain an AC Operations Manual.
• Coordinate award nominations with the four Sections.
• Maintain and update the Region 9 Awards nomination website.
• Solicit the assistance of the Younger Members Committee and YMFs in identifying possible candidates for awards designated specifically for younger members.
• Solicit assistance from the Student Chapter and Branch leadership in identifying possible candidates for awards designated specifically for students, student chapter advisors and professional practitioner advisors.
• Solicit the assistance of the Sections, Branches, Groups and Committees in identifying nominees for all award categories.
• Support the annual Infrastructure Symposium and sponsorship.

Besides a committee chair, a secretary will be appointed to serve an undefined period. The secretary will take minutes of committee meetings and keep a running log of DP activities and involvement in disasters and exercises. The secretary will not be required to keep the SAP evaluator database current. That will be accomplished by other means.

2. The current Lead Statewide Safety Assessment Program Coordinator for Cal OES (currently Jim Barnes, P.E.) will be invited to participate in committee meetings and will be copied on minutes of these meetings.
3. Meetings will be held by teleconference set up by the Chair and held monthly initially, then bi-monthly as the need diminishes.
4. Minutes will contain specific Action Items, Person Responsible with Due Dates.
5. Copies of draft and approved minutes will be posted in the Region 9 ‘cloud storage’ under the DP Committee folder.
Every 1 to 2 months over the fiscal year, the Committee will meet by conference call. Dates and times to be determined based on availability.

• Communicate the membership benefits and services of Region 9 and the Society to the Sections, Branches and Groups.

The Nominating Committee is also responsible for advertising open positions, verifying candidate eligibility, coordinating interviews of candidates and notifying the Society of the candidate selections.• Identify Board of Governor open positions. Annually, not later than July 1st, identify Board of Governor openings that will occur in the following fiscal year.
• Seek eligible ASCE members as candidates for open Board of Governor positions.
o Advertise elected Section Governor open positions in the publication of the target Section not later than November 1st for candidate commitments due as of December 1st.
o Advertise appointed Governor At-large open positions in all four Sections not later than May 1st for candidate commitments due as of June 1st.
• Review and verify candidate eligibility as ASCE members in good standing (ASCE leadership experience is encouraged).
• Establish interview dates and times with the Board of Governors as follows:
o January face to face Board of Governor’s meeting for the position of elected Section based Region Governor.
o June face to face Board of Governor’s meeting for the position of appointed Governor At-large.
• Maintain communications with the Region 9 Director and the Secretary of the ASCE Board of Direction on the selection of candidates in the timeframe established by the Society.
• Upon election/selection of the Governors, issue the Region 9 Welcome Packet and invite the new Governors to the September Board of Governors Face to Face meeting.

Committee will be led by a chair assigned by ASCE Region 9 Director with at least four committee members from sustainability chairs from each ASCE Sections in ASCE Region 9, an ASCE Region 9 Governor liaison, and other interested ASCE members and leaders in sustainability.

The Committee will be led by a committee chair who is an Envision SP and/or LEED AP. The committee will meet every 2-3 months by conference call and seek to hold one face-to-face meeting annually.

The Transportation Committee exists to monitor and establish positions on statewide transportation infrastructure funding, regulatory requirements and proposed legislation consistent with ASCE Policies.
• Communicate the Transportation Committee positions, as approved by the BOG, to all Sections. (Strategic Plan Goal 1, Objective 1.1)

• Remain current on annual statewide transportation infrastructure legislative proposals by utilizing the Region 9 Lobbyist and Bill Search reports. Recommend positions to be taken on legislation by the Region 9 Board of Governors (BOG). (Strategic Plan Goal 2, Objective 2.1)

• Utilize Committee Members for transportation infrastructure advocacy consistent with ASCE Policies and hold an annual Committee State Capitol visit to legislators and Agency Department Heads to advocate ASCE’s views. (Strategic Plan Goal 2, Objective 2.1)

• Use partnerships and coalition building opportunities to enhance transportation infrastructure advocacy.

• Support the Annual Infrastructure Symposium.

• Annually review the Transportation Policy Position Paper and present updates for review by the BOG.

The committee is also responsible for the Region 9 annual State Capitol fly-in and the follow up local drive-in visits with legislators. In addition, GRC recommends candidates for gubernatorial appointment to the Region 9 Board of Governors (BOG).
• Communicate the GRC positions, as approved by the BOG, to all Sections. (Strategic Plan Goal 1, Objective 1.1)

• Remain current on legislative and regulatory proposals by utilizing the Region 9 Lobbyist and Bill Search reports. Recommend positions to be taken on legislation by the Region 9 BOG. (Strategic Plan Goal 2, Objective 2.1)
